You can be girly and smart, but that’s not a reason to include heels in a battle outfit. She can wear all the heels she wants when she’s not fighting a villain, but wearing heels when you need to run is ridiculous!

Okay but, just an opinion, Hiro is of course going to have more hints towards who he is ethnically because he is the main character, you don’t see wasabi dropping a last name to hint that he’s a POC and go-go especially doesn’t. Also, NONE of the (main/)side characters have normal names except Fred so idk? My point is, if Honey Lemon was a main character i think it would be easier to make it apparent. And even by leaving a hint as a last name it would be neglecting to go into other characters, making it so that all of them needed a back story or personal moment in order to compensate (which you really cant dispute), which i dont think they had time for, so they did the best they can. I do however notice that the comparison photo of Honey Lemon looks significantly whiter than she does in the movie? I mean look at this screen cap! You can see that her skin isn’t exactly fair. So that lead’s me to wonder why the version of her on poster/character profile is so different in comparison? Well Disney?

Hi there! I think the comment about the heels was a little hurtful and unnecessary! Don’t get me wrong, maybe a fight scene isn’t the best time for it, but her height shouldn’t have anything to do with it. My best friend is 5’11 and WISHES she could muster up the courage to wear heels, but when she does, people always make comments similar to yours. No hard feelings, just wanted to let you know that people are sensitive to that sort of thing!

or maybe stop expecting everyone to cater to everyone’s race? who cares? only time it becomes an issue is if its forced. like changing a whole character around that’s been around for 50+ years to make other ppl happy who don’t even watch it like some comics have done and failed cuz of it.

what i dont understand is why does the only white person in the group have to be the stoner dumb one?oh but hes super rich to buy his way in like all white ppl right? great role model lol

I find it intriguing that in your critique of Honey Lemon, that you choose to attack her for wearing high heels while being tall. Later on you go on to say: “Little girls long for heroines that look like themselves, so they can take pride in their ethnic identity.”

Interesting that you choose to tell little girls who are above average height that their choices are wrong because you don’t like their shoes. Ironically, I found your post by Googling “Honey Lemon Tall”, looking for information on the character choices of the animators to make a tall female character: not as a joke or a villain (the two socially acceptable uses for a female who is taller than the males onscreen). Please find another example of a female who is taller than the males onscreen before making your point that Honey Lemon is a “boring Caucasian clone of rapunzel.”

I appreciate you trivializing my search for a character I can identify with to her choice of shoes. It really drives home your overall point of “inclusion.”

I’ve never really perceived the disney princesses as small (lately the do seem petite because of the giant CG-Eyes and head) but Aurora was tall compared to the other females. Often I miss references, Snowwhite lived with dwarves, only Cinderella interacted a lot with females that you could use to compare height. I think I imagined them all to be average, which for me is 5’8 (North/Mid Dutch girl). I like how Honey Lemon is slender, not feminine, like my sister who’s reaching 5’11 any moment now. Also I love the way Go Go body is build.

so basically the problem isn’t honey lemon it’s disney…Honey lemon is a great character, and because disney is so fixed on political correctness does not mean the character is a fault to o the movie. if you want to criticize a movie, criticize it. If you want to criticize a company criticize it. don’t mix it up.

See for me Honey Lemon is actually a very big deal, she is probably one of the only Latina characters I have ever identified with. Simply because according to most people I am simply not Latina enough in neither physical characteristics or personality. They think my pronunciation of food at Mexican restaurants is a result of Spanish classes and not years of speaking the language at home. They hear my last name, which is not traditional of any Latin countries and again they doubt or questions my ethnicity until I can somehow prove it to them. Back to Honey Lemon. There are a few quotes from the movie that imply she may be Latina. And yes it is not obvious but would you have preferred her costume have included a sombrero?
